Fireflies is a widely used tool for automatically transcribing and summarizing online meetings. Even when using the free version, Fireflies can gain access to meetings even when conversations are not recorded. In certain situations this is not desirable, for example when confidentiality or discretion is required.

The application offers several benefits, including transcripts, summaries and action items. These functionalities contribute to a more efficient working method and ensure a clear recording of discussed topics. Despite these benefits, it is not always appropriate for Fireflies to automatically join every meeting.

To prevent unwanted participation, the automatic participation function can be easily deactivated via the settings:

1. Log in to the Fireflies dashboard
2. Navigate toSettings > Meeting Settings
3. The optionAuto-join calendar eventsswitch off

After disabling this feature, Fireflies will only join meetings when explicitly allowed.
