Growing in Finance & Payroll: Shynon's story at Tilstra Services

Meet Shynon, an ambitious working student who is giving his career in Finance & Payroll a flying start at Tilstra Services. In this interview he shares his experiences, challenges and future plans.

How it started
Shynon ended up at Tilstra Services through an online vacancy. What immediately appealed to him? The open and informal corporate culture. "It is a young company where you are close to your colleagues. There are office dogs, a football table, and everyone can easily chat with each other."

From theory to practice
As a final year student of the Associate Degree Finance, Shynon applies his acquired knowledge on a daily basis. “I started in the payroll and finance department, where I made invoices, among other things. Now I work in the finance department with purchase and sales invoices and I help with closing the annual accounts.”

A typical working day
His day starts with checking the mailbox and Teamleader tickets. He then discusses the priorities of the week with his manager. “That structure helps me to stay focused and learn to plan.”

Learning and growing
In addition to his studies, Shynon also followed the BKL training through Tilstra Services. "That gave me extra depth in payroll. After my studies, I want to specialize further and take the PDL course. My dream is to eventually be seconded to a customer."

Advice for other young professionals
“Just do it!” Shynon says enthusiastically. "Tilstra Services offers many opportunities to grow, with training in payroll, finance and HR. You will receive good guidance and work with a diverse customer base."

Making mistakes is allowed
Finally, Shynon shares a valuable lesson: "Don't be afraid to make mistakes. You learn the most from them. My manager guides me well, but ultimately I have to solve it myself. That is educational and motivating."
